Job Title: Teaching Assistant (SEND)
Pay rate: £95.40 – £96.35 per day
Location: Swadlincote
Hours: 8.30am - 3.30pm
Smart Education is currently recruiting for Teaching Assistants (TAs) to join a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) school located in Swadlincote. The school is easily accessible from Burton-on-Trent, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Tamworth, Lichfield, and Derby. Job requirements:
• Minimum Level 2 qualification (or equivalent)
• Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
• Experience working with children or young people with SEND (ASD, ADHD, PDA, SPD, etc.)
• Ability to remain calm, patient, and positive in challenging situations
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
• Flexible and enthusiastic approach to outdoor and experiential learning
Role responsibilities:
• Support pupils with moderate to severe learning difficulties and associated behaviours
• Assist teachers in delivering a curriculum centred on outdoor learning and real-world experiences
• Encourage independence, social interaction, and communication development
• Help implement behaviour support strategies and sensory regulation activities
• Engage pupils in farm-based, community, and outdoor education sessions
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure each pupil thrives
